TaskAir® connects to the regular building air conditioning system. This air is ducted into the Office Workstation Screen and out through two specially designed diffusers, sitting directly in front of each workstation occupant. These diffusers are controllable by the user, both air volume and direction, in much the same way as in a car.
15lps (litres per second) of air is directed to each occupant, which generally equates to approximately 20% of the buildings total air supply. By splitting the 15lps between 2 diffusers, an even gentle flow of air is achieved, sufficient to allow the occupant to experience a cooling air movement, but not so much to produce unpleasant drafts.
The air servicing TaskAir® can be brought directly from the same duct delivering ceiling delivered air. It is best this is brought off above the VAV (Variable Air Valve) to ensure a more constant pressure.
However optimum results are achieved if the TaskAir® is separately conditioned and ducted. With this arrangement the Engineer has greater control and flexibility with rates of fresh air and “set” temperature adjustment.
TaskAir® is suited to most styles of air conditioning delivery, including Chilled Beam.
TaskAir® presents several new opportunities for the astute Engineer to consider.
- Because the air volumes are relatively small (20% of the total building air) more fresh air can be introduced, without compromising energy use.
- Because the air is delivered so efficiently in and around the workstation occupant, the air can be delivered at a temperature closer to the desired optimum, ie there are less latent heat considerations to offset.
- So long as the main workstation working areas are kept at optimum comfort levels, consider allowing corridors, filing areas and other occasionally visited areas in the office to be at less “optimum” temperatures. Significant energy savings can be achieved.
